SOLD-Cased VERY RARE Miniature of a Tom Weston Remington Model 1866 Navy Rolling Block Pistol Serial Number 5

SOLD-This miniature Remington Model 1866 Rolling Block Pistol, serial number 5, was manufactured by Tom Weston of Mexico City, Mexico. This pistol is 6.5" OAL, with a 4 inch round barrel that is hand blued, which contrasts nicely with the real Ivory grips. It comes with a matching 6.5" cleaning rod that is also hand blued, and has a matching Ivory grip, as well. The pistol is marked with the standard two line address/patent dates on the left side of the frame and marked with the anchor on the top of the barrel at the breech. The pistol is finished in high polished bright blue and the forearm and one-piece grip are smooth ivory. The pistol is complete in a red leather lined fancy wooden case with contrasting wood inlay design on the lid. "REMINGTONS/ILION, N.Y. U. S. A." is embossed on the inside of the lid and there is a small "WESTON/MEXICO. D.F." tag on the bottom of the case. The case has 17 brass "cartridge" holders and a blue cleaning rod with an ivory handle. The interior has a glass cover over the gun.

This is the same Remington Rollingblock Pistol that is shown on page 213 of "The Miniature Guns of Mexico", by Arthur Brown.  This gun had the same writings on the bottom of the case insert as shown in the photos of this book. It now belongs to one of our special customers, in San Diego, California.

Condition
Excellent. The pistol retains 98% blue finish with a small area of thinning on the back strap and barrel. The ivory is very good with a few minor age cracks and the right side is aging to a mellow patina. The case is excellent with only light handling marks.

You really need to see this up close to really appreciate this gun in all of it's glory. The brass cartridge holder will hold .22 shorts, and they will fit the chamber, however I think this gun is made for maybe a .22 rimfire blank, which does seat nicely in the chamber.
